Lending Ops Audit Fundamentals
A six-week path that turns lending operations audits for fintech into repeatable fieldwork — from sample design to a defendable findings memo.
Learning outcomes
- Build a control map that spans origination, servicing, and collections for a single loan product.
- Select and justify a sample that survives challenge from internal audit or investors.
- Write findings with severity, owner, evidence citation, and an explicit limitation statement.
- Present a short mock board narrative without burying residual risk.
Modules
- Module 1 — Product reality vs policy Reconcile product documentation with system screens and extract fields. Spot claims that cannot be evidenced.
- Module 2 — Origination control walkthrough Trace identity, income, and override paths. Practice interviewing underwriters without leading the answer.
- Module 3 — Servicing exceptions Fee waivers, schedule changes, and dual-control gaps. Build an exception inventory from messy tickets.
- Module 4 — Sampling design Stratify by vintage and channel. Document why certain populations were excluded.
- Module 5 — Collections & vendor handoffs Evidence for consent, hardship offers, and agency instructions — Korea-relevant scenarios included.
- Module 6 — Findings memo & mock board Assemble the packet, rate residual risk, and defend your choices in a timed session.
Instructor
Yuna Berg
Yuna has led internal audit workstreams for consumer lenders in Korea and advised fintechs preparing investor diligence. She teaches the Softwareserviceshub flagship and still reviews alumni findings memos during office hours.
Learner notes
“Module 4’s sampling critique was blunt. My first design ignored channel bias; the rewrite held up in our real review.”
Solid structure. The collections module moves fast — I rewatched twice before the clinic.
FAQ
Do I need an audit background?
No. Many learners come from product ops or risk. You do need access to think carefully about how your loan systems work — we cannot invent that context for you.
Can we use our own data?
Yes, if your employer permits a sanitized extract. Otherwise you work on Softwareserviceshub synthetic books. We never ask you to upload production PII to our systems.
What is a real limitation of this course?
We do not certify you as an external auditor, and we do not cover full credit-model validation. If your primary gap is model risk management, this fundamentals path will only skim the edges — pair it with specialist model review support.
